UCSI Pharmacy Interview 2015

I am interviewing for 2015 August intake to UCSI’s Pharmacy programme. I woke up at 8.30am, I bathe, brushed, and changed to formal clothes. At 9am, I used MyTeksi app to book a teksi. The app will automatically identify your location and you just have to type in your destination. The teksi came and he fetched me to Kelana Jaya LRT. Then from Kelana Jaya LRT, I ride to Masjid Jamek LRT, then change to Ampang line to Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT. Then at Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT, I take teksi again to UCSI South Wing.

I then went to the pharmacy block, level 4. I talked to the administrator and was greeted to wait at a room. Three lecturer came, Mr Fatokun introduces Mr Allen and Mr Fazlollah. I gave them my STPM, SPM, and MUET result. Mr Fatokun asked me to introduce myself and my family background. I introduced myself as STPM leaver, and a game developer. Then I explain my Computer Science background, I got offer 2 times from USM to study Computer Science. Mr. Allen says my background is brilliant, I got A in my Chinese (which is hard to get), and A for my English and Perakaunan (Accounting). He is just worried that I will quit halfway during my pharmacy programmer as he had witnessed his students quit half way to pursue other courses such as music. I promised him that I will finish the programme.

Mr Fatokun asks me why I want to be a pharmacist. I said this is a good profession, has the highest salary for fresh graduate and have many career options such as hospital/clinical, community, and industrial. He also asked me why UCSI. I said UCSI pharmacy programmer is fully accredited by Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and it has a good reputation in pharmacy.

Mr Fazlollah says I can combine my computer science background with pharmacy as nowadays the technology is good, there is need for this cross breeding of fields. I may be the pioneer of this field. Then, Mr Fazlollah asks me what are the current issues in pharmacy. I said the dispensing rights issue and explained. He asks where do I get these information. I said through blogs, forums, and friends. I have friends at UCSI Pharmacy year 3. Mr Fazlollah also asks me why I didn’t go medicine. I answered medicine costs a lot and I don’t like surgery those heavy stuff.

Mr allen asks me if I like to read, I said yes, I said I like reading non fiction and recently I delve myself into social anxiety as I have mild social anxiety. He also asks me not to self destruct, not to be too perfectionist and stuff. I don’t know how he knows about this. I saw Mr allen scribble 5 out of 5 at communication skills row of the form he is filling. I am so happy!!

Mr allen also asks me about my cocurriculum at school. I said I am the president of the Chinese Society, secretary of PBSM (Red Crescent Society). Mr allen asks me what is my plan B if I didn’t get Pharmacy at UCSI? I said I haven’t thought about plan B, maybe I will go to Computer Science. Lastly, they asks me if I have any questions. I asked why they want to choose UCSI. Mr Fatakon says he applied to many places and got this offer. Then, they asked if I have any questions related to academic. I said I currently have no question. Then Mr Fazlollah asks me if I have taken the chemistry quiz. Then, Mr allen says I don’t have to take because I took STPM.

Then I left the interview. I think I can get the offer. I ride the teksi back to LRT and back to Kelana Jaya, then ride teksi again to back to home.

Today’s cost breakdown is as follows:

RM8 (Home to Kelana Jaya LRT)
RM5 (Kelana Jaya LRT to Masjid Jamek LRT to Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT)
RM11 (Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT to UCSI)

RM7 (UCSI to Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT)
RM4 (Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT to Masjid Jamek LRT to Kelana Jaya LRT)
RM7.70 (Kelana Jaya LRT to Home)

  1. I am going for the interview this week too, thanks for sharing the experience~
And do you know if A-level leaver also need to attend the chemistry quiz?

  2. Hi, have they informed you that whether you are accepted? I have just done my interview and I’m not sure how long do I need to wait.

    1. they haven’t inform me, I decided not to go UCSI for personal reasons. You can call or email to enquire about your status. That way its faster.

  3. Hi, I’m going to attend the interview next week . May I know if the interview is hard and how long is the interview ?
    Thanks .

    1. Hi, I think the interview is fairly easy, you just need to know why you want to do Pharmacy, it lasts around 15-30 minutes.

    1. I think less about the university and more about why you want to do pharmacy, and they want to ensure you can finish the 4 years…convince them lol

  4. Sorry to interrupt you again . Just to ask whether they will limit a time for you to answer , for example give you 2 minutes to introduce yourself ? And the answer we give must it be very long ? Thanks for your help .

    1. I don’t think they will limit you, but if you see the interviewer is too bored, you may stop, just give average answers will be good. If they ask you to introduce yourself, introduce yourself in terms of how you will fit into pharmacy program instead of talking about your parents occupation etc, just know what to talk and what to eliminate.

  5. Hi there. I just randomly came across this blog re ur interview for UCSI FOPS pharmacy course. Hahah. You’ll definitely get in. I’m intrigued by the fact that u actually decided to choose pharm instead of ur other option. I wish u all the best once u start ur course in UCSI. It’s one of the best I personally know, and it’s educational quality is there. Be it the lecturers, or the examination system. I love it here. I hope u will too. Good day.

  6. I’m sorry for disturbing you but I would like to ask you a question. What did you get for your STPM? I mean CGPA. I wanted to study pharmacy course also but not sure whether I can get it.

    1. I got 3.75/4.00 for my STPM, I took Biology, Chemistry, Math T, and Pengajian Am. If you have >3.5 CGPA in STPM science stream, I think you can get into private university pharmacy course. Public university needs 4.0.
